The "Ultra Quality" feature on the thmanyah app offers a clearer and more detailed viewing experience during live matches, with resolution up to 4K and a frame rate of up to 50 frames per second (fps). This helps deliver smoother movement of players and the ball, especially on larger screens. This feature is available exclusively to Premium Plan subscribers and is being rolled out gradually.
Benefits of Ultra Quality
Ultra Quality delivers a sharper and more detailed picture compared to lower quality settings, allowing you to see the pitch, players, and ball movements more clearly, especially on TVs and screens that support 4K.
The picture quality you experience depends on several factors, including the quality of the original broadcast feed, your device and screen capabilities, and the speed and stability of your internet connection.
Upscaling Broadcast Quality to 4K
Not all matches are originally produced in native 4K. In some cases, we receive a broadcast feed from the production provider at a lower resolution. When this happens, we use image processing and upscaling technologies to enhance the resolution to 4K, aiming to deliver a clearer picture and a better viewing experience rather than relying only on the original feed quality.
These technologies can deliver picture quality close to native 4K, and the difference may be minor or difficult to notice during viewing, although the two are technically different.
4k Ultra Quality Availability
Ultra Quality is available during live broadcasts of all Roshn Saudi League matches. We are also working to introduce it to other competitions, such as the King's Cup and the Saudi Super Cup, depending on match schedules, overlapping fixtures, and our ability to provide this quality for each match. Available quality settings may vary between matches depending on the competition and broadcast conditions.
How to Enable 4k Ultra Quality
Open the match you want to watch during the live broadcast.
Go to the quality settings in the video player.
Select "Ultra Quality" if available.
Note: Switching to your selected quality may take some time, as the player needs to load new segments of the stream at the selected quality before displaying them.
Requirements for 4k Ultra Quality Streaming
To enjoy Ultra Quality, you need the following:
Subscription: Premium Plan.
Device and screen: A device capable of playing 4K video and a screen that supports 4K resolution.
Internet connection: We recommend a stable internet connection with a speed of at least 25 Mbps.
Notes:
The video player may automatically lower the quality if your internet speed drops or the connection becomes unstable. This helps keep the stream running and reduces buffering.
Ultra Quality is available only during live broadcasts and is currently unavailable for match replays. It also cannot be used at the same time as the "Rich Colors" (HDR) feature.
FAQ
1. Are all matches available in Ultra Quality 4K?
Ultra Quality is available during live broadcasts of all Roshn Saudi League matches. We aim to expand it to other competitions depending on match schedules and broadcast conditions.
2. Is Ultra Quality available to all users during live broadcasts?
This feature is available exclusively to Premium Plan subscribers.
3. Why can't I see the Ultra Quality option?
Ultra Quality is available only to Premium Plan subscribers during live broadcasts. If you have a Premium Plan subscription but cannot see the option, your device may not support this quality, or your internet speed and connection stability may not be sufficient to stream at this level.
4. What do I need to watch in 4K?
You need a Premium Plan subscription, a device and screen that support 4K, and a stable internet connection with a speed of at least 25 Mbps for a more reliable viewing experience.
5. Why does the picture quality drop even when the match is available in 4K?
Your viewing quality depends on more than just the availability of a 4K stream. If your internet speed drops or your connection becomes unstable, the picture quality may automatically decrease to help keep the stream running without buffering.
6. Why does the stream buffer when I select Ultra Quality?
Ultra Quality requires a fast and stable internet connection. Slow or unstable internet may cause buffering or interruptions. We recommend a stable connection of at least 25 Mbps and making sure your device supports 4K Ultra Quality streaming.
7. Why doesn't the streaming quality change immediately when I select Ultra Quality?
Unlike recorded videos, live streams are processed and delivered as the match happens. Switching to Ultra Quality may therefore take some time, as the player needs to load new segments of the stream at the selected quality before displaying them.
8. Can I use Ultra Quality and Rich Colors together?
No, not currently. When Rich Colors (HDR) is enabled, the highest available quality is "High". To use Ultra Quality, you need to watch without HDR enabled.
9. What's the difference between Ultra Quality (4K) and Rich Colors (HDR)?
Ultra Quality (4K): Focuses on picture resolution and the number of pixels to deliver sharper details.
Rich Colors (HDR): Focuses on color, brightness, and contrast to deliver a more realistic picture.
Note: Ultra Quality and Rich Colors cannot be used at the same time.
10. Is Ultra Quality available for match replays?
No. Ultra Quality is available only during live broadcasts. It is not available for replays, even if the match was originally broadcast live in 4K.
11. Does watching a match in Ultra Quality use more data?
Yes. The bitrate for Ultra Quality 4K can reach approximately 15 Mbps, which is equivalent to around 6.8 GB of data per hour when streaming continuously at this quality. Actual data usage may vary depending on streaming conditions.
12. Why don't I always notice a clear difference when using Ultra Quality?
The difference may be less noticeable on smaller screens, such as smartphones. It is generally more noticeable on larger screens and TVs that support 4K resolution.
13. Does thmanyah broadcast in native 4K?
It depends on the quality of the feed we receive from the match production provider. Some matches may be produced at a resolution lower than 4K. In these cases, we use image processing technologies to upscale the resolution to 4K, aiming to deliver a clearer picture and a better viewing experience rather than relying only on the original feed quality.
14. Is upscaled 4K lower in quality than native 4K?
Not necessarily. Image enhancement technologies can deliver picture quality comparable to native 4K, and the difference may be minor or difficult to notice during viewing. To enjoy uninterrupted 4K streaming, your device and screen must support this resolution, and your internet connection must be fast and stable enough.
